Nenad Puhovski

Nenad Puhovski was born in Zagreb in 1949. Primary and secondary schools and after that Faculty of Philosophy and Academy of Drama Arts he completed in Zagreb. Since 1965, he has been an amateurish director and since 1973 he has been professionally directing in theatre, film and TV. He has done more than 250 productions and won numerous local and international awards. He had worked as a permanent playwright of the Theatre &TD and since 1980 he has been teaching at the Academy of Drama Arts, Film and TV Directing Department. Currently he is a full professor of documentary directing. He is the founder of the Television Department and Documentary Film Studio MA, and has been teaching in Europe, Asia, South America, the Middle East, Africa, and the USA.

In 1997, he founded and started managing Factum, the most significant Croatian independent documentary production. As a producer, he has done more than 50 documentary films that have been screened at more than 70 festivals. Beside numerous international awards, they also won two Grand Prix and four awards for best production at DHF.

Nenad Puhovski has founded and from 2005 has been managing the ZagrebDox, the biggest regional international festival of documentary film. For his documentary work, especially for ZagrebDox, this year he has been awarded the European Documentary Network (EDN) Award. He is the member of the European Film Academy.
