The case of Dada Vujasinovic – A special projection on the Festival

Nenad KrasavacSpecial projections of the 56th Festival of Documentary and Short Film will include a film dealing with the case of Dada Vujasinovic, entitled “Sister”, by Nenad Krasavac. The film deals with the unexplained and suspicious circumstances of the death of Belgrade reporter Dada Vujasinovic, who has published all her texts in the weekly Duga. She had covered the war in the former Yugoslavia from the very beginning, starting with the first rallies in Bosnia and Krajina in 1990-91, to the battlefronts in Slavonia and the beginning of the war in Sarajevo, when she decided to stop going to the front, saying that „I can’t write about the destruction of a city and the killing of children“.

After the decision to stay away from the battlefront, from late 1992 to early 1994, she wrote about the political scene in Serbian. Dada was found dead in her family apartment on April 8, 1994. Her death remains unexplained to this day. The official version says she committed suicide by shooting herself in the chest from a shotgun… Many have doubted the veracity of that claim. Nevertheless, the police and the authorities in Serbia are remaining silent 15 years after her death over the results of the several times repeated investigation.
