Money is always the problem

 The guest of this year’s documentary and shorts festival is Laurent Denis, the author of the film „Feet“.

 „There is one scene in the film when the old man is cleaning the in betweens of his leg fingers, that is something I often do when I take my socks away (laughs) and I think that this shot was my first inspiration. The second thing I wanted to say about the society we are living in: from the moment we are born, they are trying to sell us something. It was the way to find a context and to put everything in it, to take old people, because they are in many respects like children and they are easier sold something.

But why in the film he is preparing himself as if he was going to attend some big event, like a marriage and why does he puts on a costume?

 „He is lonely and lives in a nursing home and his family doesn’t visit him and when the nurse tells him he will receive a visit that day, it’s a big event for him and he must prepare for the arrival of the guest.

 Did you have any difficulties in shooting the film?

 „Not many, no. I had written this script six years ago and tried to enter a competition, but it was lost somewhere in my apartment. At that moment, I decided to make my first short feature film and it wasn’t that difficult, because I simply decided to rewrite the scenario. I applied for funds with our culture ministry and got it, so there were not many problems. When you make a short film, money is always a problem
